This is from Ivan's archive, a pic taken in his Fort Lamy shack in 1946.

FQ3AT 1946 French Equatorial Africa

A little word about FQ3AT : This callsign was the only one callsign ever issued in ham community with a FQ3 prefix. All the other hams got after FQ8 prefixes. In CQ WPX program it's the only one FQ3 ever issued of course.

These are somme topics about my OT Friend Ivan, F3AT. Ivan will turn 89 on April 7, 2003. He is still active and will very soon reach more than 2000 entities in the de Soto Cup. He is DXCC Honor rollers in cw and mixed mode for years.
He is also member of :
Réseau des Emetteurs Français (REF)
ARRL
A1 op Club
F O C.
Union Francaise des Telegraphistes (UFT)
A lot of other clubs are also honoured to count him by them .

Ivan was first F3AU in the early 30's (exactly 1931) then he became F3AT in 1933. After the WWII, he came to French Africa, working in the Air Forces. As ham radio he was successively : FQ3AT and FQ3AT/FE in 1947; then moving he signed FE8AB in 1948 and FF8AG in 1951.
