FI8AC 1937 French Indochina
FI8AC
was Rene Lebon. One of the most active amateurs from the 1930's
in French Indochina, now Vietnam. Rene was licensed in the 1920's
as FI8FOK.
Between 1935 - 1939, FI8AA - FI8AB - FI8AC
- FI8AD - FI8AE - FI8AF - FI8AG
and FI8AH were active.
In 1950, France banned amateur
radio from Indochina and FI8 was put on the DXCC "banned
country" list.
French Indochina was deleted from the ARRL DXCC list on December
21, 1950.
France started issuing FI8 licenses again on September 1, 1954
but counted as Vietnam. FI8AC was
reissued to Paul Boucher ex: F8MT.
