D4AFM 1930
Hermann Brinkmann, Bielefeld, DE1228, D4AFM, D4ICH.
Card says: H. Brinkmann, Telegraphen Inspektor, Uhlandstrasse 5, Bielefeld, Deutschland (Germany). Telegraphen Inspector means a higher rank state employee at the telegraph office. He became member of the DASD in 1930 and was was active in organizing district H of the DASD, called "Onkel Hermann" (uncle Hermann) by his club fellows. Then he must have moved to near Potsdam, as he is listed in a 1944 callbook with the address: D4ich Hermann Brinkmann Blankenfelde Bez.Potsdam Hans-Sachs-Str.23. After the war he worked at the OPD Muenster in the position of an Oberamtsrat and was instrumental in 1946 in founding the radio club in Muenster. On September 16th 1948 he held the first license exam in Muenster (producing the licensees DL1SK, DL1SL, DL1SO - not clear if Brinkmann himself became ever licensed again). Brinkmann is acclaimed to be the founder of what is now the Bielefeld section N01 of the DARC. He was also contacted in the 40ies by members of the Bocholt N17 to find out when amateur radio could resume in the British zone.
