D4AZB 1948 Germany
Lt. E. "Jack" Walls,
D4AZB, later DL4AZB, born November 28, 1920 in Virginia.
Unit 1914 AACS Squadron.
A three letter suffix for DL4
calls was not normal, such as DL4AZB, but they did exist in the
early 1950's.
Only one was listed in a 1952 callbook -- DL4USA. I found the
following suffixes in a 1955 callbook: TDD, PAL, CCB, IVY and
ACW.
"DL4PAL" was "the friendly station" I visited
them when I was in Germany in the '50s.
I do not remember the year DL4AZB appeared.
