Walther Kawan, DE1482, D4BIT, D4BMJ after 1933, D4KPJ, DL1UU after 1949 (on and off). He started the hobby in 1929. Kawan was involved in reviving amateur radio activities in Germany after the war. He served for many years as the cooperate counsel of the German amateur radio club DARC. Curiously, Kawan is not listed in the Rufzeichenliste 1977 and another person given as the holder of DL1UU: DL1UU Ludwig Hedderich, 6145 Lindenfels 1, Seehofweg 16. In Rufzeichenliste 1985 he is back: DL1UU, Walther Kawan, Cranachstr. 81, 2000 Hamburg 52.
