K-4YAE 1927 Germany

K4YAE 1927:
Rudolf Horkheimer, Rottenburg, KY8, K4YAE, DK5GA/
Pioneer and builder of excellent equipment in the early 1920th. Very unafraid operator, in 1923, when amateur radio was strictly prohibited, he sent a telegram to his fiancee in Berlin and cited for illegal radio transmissions. Horkheimer made various first radio contacts: One of the first qsos between Germany and the USA on Oct. 2nd 1925 (KY8-U2AKB), first qso between Germany and New Zealand (K4YAE- Z2AC) on May 28th 1926. He emigrated to South Amerika in the 1930ies and returned much later to Germany. Got relicensed in the 1970th as DK5GA.
