Gene Arnold Nurkka, N0GN, ex-VK9GN, AX9GN and W0IHW.
Gene and his wife Janet were missionaries to Papua New Guinea with WyCliffe Bible Translators from 1964 to 1972. He had an early passion for missions.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and amateur radio. He was first licensed with the call sign W0IHW at age 14.
Gene Graduated from high school (Colraine, MN) in 1955, then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
He worked as a TV repairman while attending college, then as an electrical engineer with CDC in Bloomington, Minnesota.
In 1996 he became a licensed minister.
He was born September 11, 1937 and became a Silent Key April 10, 2020.
