Tribute to William
"Bill" Fleckenstein - W8CXO
February 25, 1924 - February 9, 2023
Bill Fleckenstein, age 98, also known as Fleck, formerly of Hubbard, Ohio, became a sk at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bill moved to Florida after retirement. Bill was born February 25, 1924 in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, a son of William T. and Agnes Withers Fleckenstein and came to Hubbard in 1957. Bill was the manager of Radio Station WHOT in Youngstown, Ohio for 34 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard. Bill will be laid to rest at St. Rose Cemetery in Hermitage.
Bill was a good friend for many years. He was
my best helper on my Old Timer Hams of Shenango Valley (PA) project. Bill knew all the old timers in the area,
had many QSL cards, photos, and knowledge for my project. We
stayed in email contact until the end. If you want to see what
Bill contributed to my project, go to the Hamgallery homepage and type W8CXO in the search engine on that page.
There was a story that when Bill moved to Florida he gave away
his house in Hubbard, Ohio to someone who needed it. Maybe
someone can add some detail to this.
RIP my friend. K8CX
